Northgrove was founded on a simple conviction: that the objects we live with should carry the weight of human hands. In an age of mass production and disposable design, we chose a different path — one that leads through the narrow alleys of the Marrakech medina, into workshops where brass has been shaped by fire and hammer for generations.
Our journey began when our founders first witnessed the extraordinary skill of Moroccan metalworkers — artisans who could transform raw brass into objects of startling beauty using techniques unchanged for centuries.
"We don't manufacture products. We commission works of art, one piece at a time, from artisans whose families have perfected these techniques over generations."
Forged by hand,
shaped by tradition
Our atelier sits in the heart of the Marrakech medina, where the sounds of hammering brass have echoed through the streets for centuries. Here, a team of master metalworkers — led by third-generation artisan Hassan El Fassi — shapes every Northgrove piece by hand.
There are no assembly lines, no automated processes. Each sink, mirror, light fixture, and hardware piece is forged, hammered, engraved, and finished by skilled hands that understand the metal intimately.
The workshop operates on a made-to-order basis. When you commission a piece from Northgrove, your order initiates a four-to-six week journey of creation.
Patina is not wear —
it is biography
Every Northgrove piece is deliberately left unlacquered. This is not an oversight — it is a philosophy. Unlacquered brass is a living material that responds to its environment, developing a rich patina that deepens and evolves over months and years.
The brass in your bathroom will age differently from the brass in your kitchen. The mirror you touch daily will develop a different character from the pendant lamp above your dining table.
It tells the story of how a piece has been lived with, where it has been placed, whose hands have touched it. In a world of static, unchanging surfaces, we believe there is profound beauty in materials that grow more characterful with time.
Built to last generations,
not just years
Northgrove exists at the intersection of heritage craft and contemporary living. We are committed to fair partnerships with our artisans, sustainable production practices, and creating objects that are built to last not just years, but generations.
Every piece that leaves our atelier carries with it the knowledge, skill, and pride of the hands that made it. We invite you to experience the difference that handcrafted brass brings to a home.
